244 School Zone Tickets Issued

244 School Zone Tickets

244 School Zone tickets hit drivers driving too fast in school zones in the first two weeks of Dallas ISD calendar year.

Back to school does not always remind adults to drive with care and caution around schools.

Despite the increased patrols some drivers are not getting the message per one local news report.

“We know the area well,” Hillary Taylor said. “Love the area. Love the neighborhood” referring to their home near Mockingbird Elementary.

However, similar to the Dallas Police Department, Taylor has started to see a rise in people speeding down her road the past few weeks. For Taylor, she said her road is in a unique situation because it’s the first street drivers can cut through to avoid school zones.

This is worrisome for her because she said there are a lot of families with young children oftentimes playing outside, whether it’s during the school year or not.

“It’s not great,” Taylor said. “Especially when you have littles. I mean, we’re out in the front yard and cars are just whipping through.”

Taylor said there are also many students walking to and from school during the day.

“It really just comes down to people being aware and courteous,” Taylor said. “I mean, these are kids. People just totally miss school zones.”

Beyond the school zone speed enforcement, the district is mandating clear backpacks for older students. There is poor evidence clear backpacks will solve district violence issues.

“Clear bookbags are a well intended but relatively ineffective measure,” said Michael Dorn. Dorn is a former police officer and Executive Director of Safe Haven International.

Dallas ISD has not released the results of its parent survey on clear backpacks. They did say they will issue a single backpack to students and will not replace it if it becomes damaged.

In December 2021, parents were notified of an elementary student with a firearm on a bus. At the time, parents said the note normalized the situation.

There were also multiple protests at Dealey Montessori with at least two events where adults were armed on campus.

PM22 Cancels Ben Shapiro

PM22

PM22 – the Podcast Movement conference currently in Dallas – is facing criticism after an online apology for allowing Ben Shapiro to be “present.”

https://twitter.com/PodcastMovement/status/1562765174742073344

Among the attendees at PM22 was Ben Shapiro. Shapiro is a conservative pundit.

He visited the conference’s expo center, where The Daily Wirethe conservative news site Shapiro co-founded – had rented a booth.

He took some pictures with attendees and moved on. There were no statements – no politics – he just visited. This caused earthquakes in the social media community requiring PM22 to apologize for him being present.

PM22’s tweeted “The pain caused by this one will always stick with us. We promise that sponsors will be more carefully considered moving forward.”

Dallas Fire Rescue battled a three alarm fire yesterday, but there are no reports of response to the conference for attendees in pain. Mr. Shapiro generously stands at 5’7 begging the question who did he cause pain to by being “present?”

PM22

The Daily Wire is an American conservative news website and media company founded in 2015. It’s founders are political commentator Ben Shapiro and film director Jeremy Boreing.

PM22 Blow Back

The Podcast Movement website claims to be the “ultimate annual destination for diverse speakers, education, networking, and groovy parties.”

PM22

It appears, like George Orwell’s Animal Farm, they want diversity, just not right of center diversity.

The Daily Wire which has tweeted a clip of some of Shapiro’s activity is even getting support from the likes of liberal Yashar Ali.

Shapiro has made a career of mocking college campuses that refuse right of center speech.

One attendee said he expected Shapiro will make use of this experience where his presence was so frightening to further push his goals.

PM22 media representatives have refused to respond to multiple requests for comment not unlike recent antifa groups who threatened city officials attempting to address homeless conditions.

Jacoby Tatum Wins

Jacoby Tatum Wins

Jacoby Tatum wins partial release yesterday in Dallas 283rd District Court. Retired Judge Grace Lewis ruled Tatum could have leg monitoring restrictions lowered. Lewis filled in for vacationing Judge Lela Mays.

Tatum will maintain leg monitor restrictions, but will have ability to work. He will also have opportunity to attend church services. His house arrest is otherwise in place.

Jacoby Tatum Wins

Jacoby Tatum Wins Another Round Over Public Safety

Tatum was one of four individuals who went on a crime spree on November 16, 2021. The criminal actions ended with the murder of Ali Elbanna in the Costco parking lot in Dallas on Park Lane.

Tatum is out on bond after Judge Mays dropped his bond in April 2022. Tatum’s criminal charges relate to the armed robbery of two teenagers at South Oak Cliff. They also attempted armed robbery of a woman at NorthPark Mall. They then demanded property from Ali Elibanna before murdering him on November 16.

The family released a statement after the ruling.

“Dallas County will become less safe today after Judge Lela Mays decided to relax house arrest restrictions for a criminal facing aggravated robbery charges. Jacoby Tatum was involved in the murder of our father and three other armed robbery cases, but he will now be allowed to go to work and church alongside other Dallas residents. We are deeply dismayed and disturbed by this decision. We truly believe this individual should be behind bars right now given his role in multiple violent crimes in Dallas that happened less than a year ago and ended in the murder of our father. Public safety should be the primary concern, and we are truly worried for Dallas residents who could face what we had to face because of the release granted by the judge today.”

The decision is another in a long line of pro-criminal choices Dallas is making.

Earlier this year Judge Chika Aniyam chose to lower the bond of Julio Guerrero despite multiple acts of violence.

City of Dallas staff have also backed down from responding to homeless crisis after being confronted by antifa groups. These were later called out by activist Andy Ngô, but Dallas appears to be on a Crime Pays bandwagon.

Dallas Flooding 2022

No Monitoring For Elibanna Murderers

No Monitoring For Elibanna Murderers

No monitoring for Elibanna murderers is on Monday’s docket in the 283rd District Court. This comes after their bond was already lowered freeing them to repeat crimes.

On November 16, 2021, Ali Elbanna was murdered at the Costco Business Center in Dallas on Park Lane.

Mr. Elbanna was loading groceries into his car when four individuals, including Jacoby Tatum, approached him. They were in a stolen vehicle from an earlier crime.

No Monitoring For Elibanna Murderers

They demanded his belongings, and then shot and killed him.

The four individuals were arrested and charged with capital murder related to the killing along with multiple counts of aggravated robbery for offenses committed earlier the same day, including incidents at South Oak Cliff High School and NorthPark Mall.

Now, Tatum’s defense counsel seeks removal of his Electronic Leg Monitor (ELM). A hearing will take place Monday, August 22nd at 9:00AM on the sixth floor of the Frank Crowley Courthouse. The courthouse is located at 133 N. Riverfront Boulevard, Dallas, TX 75207.

No Monitoring For Elibanna Murderers

If Judge Lela Mays chooses no monitoring for the Elibanna murderers it would follow similar decisions by Democrat nominated judges to lower bonds for violent criminals.

It would also follow a pattern of selective prosecution by John Creuzot.

Four sources say District Attorney Creuzot has a political deal in place with Dominque Alexander and NGAN activists. Alexander who has been convicted of felony child charges does not attack Creuzot. In exchange, Creuzot ignores Alexander’s questionable activist work in South Dallas.

Creuzot faces Faith Johnson in his re-election campaign in November 2022.

The Elibanna family released the following statement:

“We are terrified for the people of Dallas, including for our family, which has already been irreparably harmed by this individual’s actions. Our father is dead, and one of the four individuals who helped kill him is out on the streets of Dallas right now. The lowering of the bonds to allow for these four murderers to be released before their trials is dangerous for everyone in our community. We hope the judge will decide to keep the leg monitor and reconsider the lowering of the bonds that allowed for this individual to be released.”

Ali Elbanna

Ali Elbanna, a naturalized American citizen born in Lebanon to Palestinian refugees, was a resident of the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex for more than thirty years.

He was married to Stephanie Young Elbanna, a Fort Worth native, for thirty-three years, and together they had five children.

Mr. Elbanna was a smnall business owner in Arlington, Texas. He was an active member of the local community. He was sixty years old at the time of his passing.

Maxie Johnson Goes Back To School

Maxie Johnson Goes Back To School

Maxie Johnson goes back to school and carries on a live broadcast without student permission. This is not the first time the Dallas Independent School District Trustee took to the air for self promotion.

Dallas ISD’s website says “Media should refrain from contacting Dallas ISD students, teachers or staff without FIRST receiving approval from our media team, and is asked not visit campuses prior to receiving approval.”

Dallas ISD Strategic Communication was contacted five times for comment about Johnson’s broadcast and policy rules surrounding it.

The new superintendent, Stephanie Elizalde, could not be reached for comment. Johnson did attend her first public meeting in June 2022 with the Next Generation Action Network (NGAN).

NGAN’s “CEO minister” Dominique Alexander has previously been convicted of felony assault against a child. It is unclear his relationship with the Dallas schools, but Johnson has similar problems.

It makes his lack of attention to safety details important for some parents.

Maxie Johnson Goes Back To School

While Johnson is the elected representative for his district it is also unclear how tightly school officlas monitor his behavior.

Johnson’s son was killed in 2019 and his daughter was arrested for Capital Murder.

Johnson’s son was shot in August 2019 per police and media reports at the time.

Christopher Whitfield Johnson graduated from South Oak Cliff High School in 2015.

He was 21 years old when he died in east Oak Cliff.

Police found his body lying in the middle of the street in the 3600 block of Utah Avenue at about 1:30AM. He had been shot in the chest.

Police sources state Johnson attempted to rob another person who exercised lethal force to protect himself.

Maxie Johnson Goes Back To School

Teilor Johnson, then 19, is the daughter of Dallas ISD trustee Maxie Johnson, is charged with capital murder in the death of Quincy Wyatt.

LaKevain Grant was also arrested. Affidavits say that in exchange for $600 Grant and Johnson lured Wyatt to a location where he was kidnapped.

Wyatt’s body was later found with gunshot wound and burned.

Local 58 Leadership Still Protecting Their Johnson

DFR Unable To Respond

Local 58 leadership still protects their mayoral candidate, Eric Johnson, despite his ineffectiveness regarding TC Broadnax.

Johnson spoke to roughly two dozen members at Local 58 last night on several issues.

Local 58 Leadership Meets With Eric Johnson

One member asked about the continued employment of Broadnax.

Jim McDade posted later ” (a) couple council members crawfished once it became political.”

McDade noted “you need 8 votes to terminate him.”

McDade is President of International Association of Firefighters Local 58.

Local 58 Leadership Protects Eric Johnson

In June, Mayor Eric Johnson surrendered his battle against TC Broadnax. In a post on Medium, Johnson said he will work with Broadnax moving forward. The two pledged a collaborative environment moving forward.

Less than two weeks prior Johnson said,” it was time for a change at the top of our city government.” Johnson now realizes he is short votes needed to remove Broadnax. Johnson has effectively boxed himself into a corner.

The strong mayor proponent is clearly not that strong, nor not that smart.

Local 58 Leadership and Meet and Confer

Meet and Confer refers to a law that passed in 2005 by the Texas Legislature. It is also known as Local Government Code 174. Texas law states fire fighters and police officers have the right to associate. This organization is as a fair and practical method to determine compensation. It also provides a seat to discuss other conditions of employment such as safety.

Most public employees do not have this right. The states purpose of Meet and Confer is for employee groups is to meet at reasonable times. It allows “good faith” discussion on compensation, hours, etc.

Local 58 leadership has been noticeably silent on William Carter – a firefighter paid to not work – despite being physically able to do so.

Other Side Dallas was also unable to find public statement from Local 58 on Brad Cox’s assault of a homeless man or EMS response to LaDamonyon Dewayne Hall.

Paxton Garza Race Polling

Paxton Garza Race Polling

Paxton Garza race polling may show a tight November race for Texas Attorney General. The Texas Tribune/UT Tyler poll shows Garza within two points.

Paxton Garza Race Polling

Polling shows incumbent Ken Paxton (R) ahead of Rochelle Garza (D), 34 – 32%.

The poll shows half of independent voters disapprove of Ken Paxton’s work as Attorney General. That is up from just over forty percent earlier this summer. It also shows more than a third of voters are undecided.

In addition to his political troubles, Paxton remains under indictment for securities fraud. That charge has plagued his time as Attorney General almost since he took office.

Paxton Garza Race Polling And National Trends

Garza appears to be bucking a national trend and may outperform Joe Biden in Texas despite running as a self described progressive. Biden’s tracking poll numbers show him down by more than fifteen points.

Real Clear Politics Poll - Presidential Approval

The one area of national unanimity is the direction of the country where a fifty point gap exists between right direction and wrong.

Real Clear Politics Poll - Direction of Country

These poll numbers are within the Margin of Error, but still show Garza ahead of Beto O’Rourke taking a statewide seat.

Garza Issues

One issue clearly separating the two candidates is immigration. Though a federal issue, Garza has taken an open borders approach.

On her website she says, “Refugees, asylum seekers, and immigrants must be welcome in Texas — but that will never be the case as long as the GOP holds onto power.”

Immigration

This statement contradicts Democratic Party exit polling from 2020 where Latinos in South Texas rejected this stance leading to an increased number of Latinos voting for Donald Trump.

As an issue for Dallas, open borders may have allowed Abel Elias Acosta to escape to Mexico after a triple murder in Garland last Christmas. Garland Police currently list Acosta as their number Most Wanted fugitive.

Abel Elias Acosta Most Wanted; Unclear How Fits Into Paxton Garza Race Polling

Crime has been up in Dallas so it is unclear how this issue with play for Garza both in Paxton Garza race polling, but the general election also.

Back To School 2022 For Dallas ISD

Back To School 2022

Back to school 2022 is in full force this morning as most Dallas Independent School District students return to the classroom.

Among changes expected this year, students in grades six and up, are required to have clear backpacks. This is after the tragic response to the Uvalde school shooting last May.

That event led to copy cat threats at Berkner High School in Richardson and at Pinkston High School in Dallas.

National experts have called the move security theater and it appears to have drawn widespread criticism for first year Dallas Superintendent Stephanie Elizalde.

Back To School 2022 Calendar

The base Dallas ISD calendar is below.

Superintendent Elizalde’s first public meeting was with the Next Generation Action Network. That calendar decision draws questions about her work with Dominique Alexander.

Alexander is a felon who assaulted a child.

There was a shooting at youth football game in Lancaster Saturday killing a coach. The nine year old scrimmage took the life of Mike Hickmon.

Shooting At Youth Football Game Takes Life Of Mike Hickmon

Hickmon, coach for the South East Dallas Wolverines, is reported to have been shot by former NFL player and North Dallas United coach Yaqub Talib. The team is led by he and his brother Aqib Talib.

Local fire department responders were seen performing CPR on their way out of the field area.

Shooting At Youth Football Game

Lancaster Police Department has not returned calls Sunday morning. No arrests have beem made. It appears Mr. Talib is free Sunday morning.

Shooting At Youth Football Game – Another Sign Of Violence In Dallas

One parent stated this is what happens at unsanctioned events. However, there have been numerous cases of bad behavior by adults in youth sports during sanctioned tournaments.

Talib has reportedly been arrested in Dallas in previous years.

The Texas Rangers youth baseball program continued to use a coach last season after multiple serious allegations against him.

Additionally, umpires are leaving by the dozens from local associations. Some referees and umpires state they have parents follow them to their car.
