Sarah Weinberg Stiffs Dealey

Sarah Weinberg stiffs Dealey parents – at least half of them – of information about bond improvements. These reportedly affect the north Dallas ISD Montessori campus.

It is unclear why Dallas Independent School District employees can not manage the basics of an email list.

Sarah Weinberg Stiffs Dealey

There have been a number of issues with Dealey for years, but it is unusual for Weinberg to speak about a local matter in an email.

Earlier she emailed one parent saying board members do not handle local decisions such as the hiring and firing of principals.

Sarah Weinberg Stiffs Dealey After Principal Removal

Dallas ISD officials recently reassigned Principal Christina Ibarra with a half baked announcement. That announcement also went out to only half the parent population.

We will note that when a gun came onto another Dallas ISD campus that principal was not removed or reassigned.

Zenaida Martinez is still working as principal at Chapel Hill Prep despite a significant incident that went widely underreported. Additionally, the principal at Kimball High School is still in place after a video became public of a staff member beating a student.

Shortly thereafter Ibarra released what was referred to as a hostage letter.

FEMA Testing EBS Today

FEMA testing EBS today to evaluate the Integrated Public Alert and Warning System (IPAWS) nationally at 1:20 PM.

In preparation, the Office of Emergency Management shares the following key facts.

  • The test will broadcast using the Wireless Emergency Alert System (WEA) and Emergency Alert System (EAS).
  • Virtually every phone across the country will receive an alert.
  • The test will take place at approximately 1:20 p.m. CST on Oct. 4, with a backup date of Oct. 11. The WEA message will display: “THIS IS A TEST of the National Wireless Emergency Alert System. No action is needed.”
  • Phones set to Spanish will display: “ESTA ES UNA PRUEBA del Sistema Nacional de Alerta de Emergencia. No se necesita acción.”
  • The EAS message will announce on television and radio: “This is a nationwide test of the Emergency Alert System, issued by the Federal Emergency Management Agency, covering the United States from 14:20 to 14:50 hours ET. This is only a test. No action is required by the public.”
  • There is NO way to opt-out of this test, so even those individuals with their alert settings set to “off” will receive this message if their phone is on and receiving service.

More information on the National Test is here.

The test is happening on the same day that most North Texas cities test their Outdoor Warning Systems (OWS).

Dallas OEM intends to conduct regular City of Dallas OWS test at noon as scheduled, weather permitting.

FEMA Testing EBS Today – Conspiracies Abound

There are numerous conspiracy theories running the local internet about the planned emergency management drill.

FEMA Testing EBS Today

One says the 5G system will activate the “Marburg” virus – a relative of Ebola – that will turn people into zombies.

Other Side Dallas is aware of a recent case of monkeypox, but plans to be the first to report on Dallas zombies. (Other than city council members of course.)

District 11 Spelling

District 11 spelling is no better than State Fair of Texas spelling after city council staff sent out an email misspelling briefing.

District 11 Spelling

The second major spelling error shows local Dallas schools living up to their reputations of not being able to educate.

This weekend, the State Fair of Texas welcomed visitors with a poorly spelled sign.

District 11 Spelling and Dallas ISD

In local education news, Dallas Independent School District is suing the Texas Education Agency over state standards.

Dallas ISD believes state standards are too rigorous and nearly ten percent of campuses would fail.

Dallas ISD has 233 campuses and 145,000 students. On the last state report card roughly ten percent of these received a D or F grade from the state.

At the same time, Dallas ISD has removed a successful principal from one of its successful campuses without explanation.

Dallas Football Officials Silent

Dallas football officials silent since the Friday night incident that has earned media attention from Sports Illustrated and other media organizations.

The incident where it appears a football official intentionally ripped the helmet off a teenage player went viral this weekend.

Dallas Football Officials Silent

The University Interscholastic League did issue a statement Saturday saying they were investigating the incident.

The Dallas football officials silent treatment is being taken as an admission of guilt by some.

Dallas Football Officials Association Not Responding

The Dallas Football Officials Association has not responded to a request for comment about the incident.

DFOA claims to be “one of the largest and premier chapters of football officials in Texas and the United States.”

They state they have approximately 700 members who officiate football not only in the Dallas & Ft. Worth surrounding areas but also throughout the State of Texas.

The Texas Association of Sports Officials has also been silent on the issue and not responded to requests for comment.

State Fair Spelling

State Fair spelling error is causing attendees to realize state education rankings are accurate and we need help.

For those following at home, the sign welcoming visitors is missing an obvious bit of punctuation and a letter.

State Fair Spelling

It is not clear if State Fair officials will remove the offending billboard that Texas ranks #38 against other states in education.

In an interview with NBCDFW, Superintendant Stephanie Elizalde said, “I would never have any evaluation of any member of my team based on previous evaluation criteria, and at the end of the period of time that I’m going to evaluate them say I’ve changed my mind I’m going to evaluate you on something else.”

However, Dallas ISD has done this – repeatedly.

Most recently, a principal was suddenly removed from a successful Dallas ISD school with no clear reason or cause.

Additionally, since at least 2020, Dallas ISD students have been shown to be failing at basic math and reading.

Official Rips Player Helmet

Official rips player helmet in an incident in Seagoville last night between Whitney High and Madison High of Dallas.

The post on X, formerly known as Twitter, is going viral as she asks “how is this allowed from a ref!!!!!!!”

Official Rips Player Helmet

The incident is viral after the player’s mom recorded the event from the stands at Seagoville Stadium in Dallas.

The video shows her son drop into pass coverage as Madison’s quarterback scrambles out of the pocket.

The player pursued on the backside and bumped into the umpire in the middle of the field. After the collision, the official ripped off the player’s helmet and threw a penalty flag on the defender.

The official then ejected the player. There is no word on charges for the official.

Dallas ISD’s Madison High School is now 2-4.

Dallas Has Little Johnson

Dallas Has Little Johnson

Dallas has little Johnson available for city council business according to an article by KERA citing frequent absences and early departures.

It has led to another defeat at the horseshoe where he can not bring tax savings to local residents.

Per the KERA story, Mayor Johnson has missed more than 130 hours since 2019. This is more time than the next three city council members combined.

Dallas Has Little Johnson
A graphic from KERA shows Mayor Eric Johnson outpacing his colleagues for time away from city business.

Per KERA, Mayor Johnson missed thirteen meetings in their entirety. No other member of city council has missed more than three.

Dallas Has Little Johnson – By The Numbers

In 2022, during the failed attempt to remove TC Broadnax as City Manager it was noted Mayor Johnson couldn’t count to eight.

Dallas Has Little Johnson

Eight is the number of city council members voting needed for a majority. Some of the criticism of his vote whipping abilities is his part time status as mayor.

One critic said, “he doesn’t carry himself like an executive because he is there for the perks, not the people.”

Johnson’s inability to do anything meaningful shows again and again, whether it is trying to defund the bureaucracy or tame city hall.

His lack of vote counting acumen also cost him in several city council races in 2021.

Naked DFW Ken

Naked DFW Ken, as he has been dubbed, was seen walking completed naked in Terminal C at Dallas Fort Worth airport yesterday.

DFW Airport Public Safety has not returned an email and follow up in unclear.

The incident is a reminder of the American Airlines Karen, identified as Tiffany Gomas, from earlier this summer.

Naked DFW Ken

No security breaches were reported at DFW yesterday so this appears to have happened after passing through TSA.

Other Side Dallas will do a follow up when we learn more about the traveler or his medical conditions.

Deb Does Dallas Dirty

DeB Does Dallas Dirty according to party guests who paid hundreds of dollars to be part of the exclusive Saturday event.

Other Side Dallas scored when a female member of the host team was too open about their Saturday party. We broke the story about the “exclusive” dinner at Pacific Plaza.

Other Side Dallas reached out more than a week ago to the international dining group for comment, but received no answers. The guests had the same experience.

One young man who was able to get in last minute said the event was a joke. He asked that we not use his last name, but he goes by Colton.

This party goer tell us quite a bit about the event.

Are You Kidding Me?

First, a private exclusive champagne experience was anything but exclusive. The area was not secure and non-ticket holders and early arrivals ate appetizers and canapes meant for ticketed guests.

A second problem for Diner en Blanc was the champagne event itself. The Belaire Luxe served is available at any Target and wasn’t champagne, but was a sparking, white wine.

Deb Does Dallas Dirty

“How does a French themed event skimp on champagne,” asked Colton from the Allen area. “Do they think we are not going to notice it isn’t champagne?”

Other party goers said there was also a racial tone that was inappropriate for an inclusive event.

One young woman said the deejay, imported from Houston, kept referring to “white people music” and that he had to “appease” parts of the crowd.

“This is 2023. What is ‘white people music’ and how is that not racist?”

One question Other Side Dallas had for organizers was how would they make this an event that showed grace.

No response to our direct questions, but at the event those seeking grace showed up.

Other Side Dallas had multiple people tell us that numerous homeless people showed up seeking a handout.

Pacific Plaza Park is home to several homeless normally so the city fencing plan was hopeful at best.

Deb Does Dallas Dirty – The Basics

Other issues brought up are the absence of any sparklers and the napkin wave.

In years past cloth napkins were a gift for guests and provided by an event sponsor.

Reports indicate DeB Dallas had no direct sponsors and that some businesses may have been uncomfortable.

Others say they did not understand some of the messaging.

“The Diner en Blanc team came out hard on all white clothing and then allowed outfits with heavy cream, silver, and gold” per one attendee.

Another attendee mentioned the constant lack of bathroom facilities which have plagued DeB events in Dallas.

“This group told the city they were planning on 1200 people, but their follow up email said they invited 1500.”

“It’s no surprise they don’t have bathroom facilities. They weren’t honest about how many people were coming.”

City officials confirmed this estimate.

Transportation and Mobility

City officials were also surprised when buses could not park in their designated drop off locations also.

DeB planners did not inform the city that cars parked along the way would need to be moved prior to the event.

Ransomware Attack Report

Ransomware Attack Report

Ransomware attack report leaves concern after 30000 users had personal details leaked. The city remains tightlipped about the loss.

City officials postponted the official After-Action Review of Chief Information Officer Bill Zielinski.

Candy’s Dirt was able to get a copy of the presentation for the September 6 city council meeting.

Ransomware Attack Report

The ransomware hack of resources disrupted city operations across the city. Problems occurred for building permits, libraries, and even emergency response operations.

Municipal courts and 311 have also been affected.

Zielinski told Candy’s Dirty they are budgeting eight figures in the FY2024 budget.

This comes after issues with back up of city data causing terabytes of data loss. The data loss caused case load issues where the police could not prosecute cases.

Ransomware Attack Report

The city says this is an ongoing criminal investigation, but will not comment if they paid the ransom.

Dallas Central Appraisal District (DCAD) was also targeted in November 2022. They paid roughly $170000 in ransom. Some say this encourages the attackers.
