Tamara Wallace Embezzles Over $1M

Tamara Wallace

Tamara Wallace stole approximately $1.36M from local nonprofit Donate 2 Impact from 2015 to 2019 per public records and local news reports.

Wallace spent on everything from meals at Panera to fifth-row seats at Dallas Mavericks games. She also spent almost $10,000 of the nonprofit’s funds on SOTA weight-loss treatment in Frisco, another $6,000 at Le Beau Visage, a medical spa.

She spent another $6,500 at Louis Vuitton and a $10,000 purchase at high-end audio and visual retailer Starpower.

Wallace’s methods for the embezzlement were similar to others where one person controls both payment methods and ledgers. Similar financial problems were found with Dallas Democrats, though no accusations have been made there of stolen funds, just slipshot accounting.

Dwaine Caraway Released

Dwaine Caraway Released

Dwaine Caraway released from federal prison and back on the Dallas streets per a recent Twitter post by Dallas Morning News oped columnist Robert Wilonsky.

Dwaine Caraway Released After Fifty-One Months

Caraway “earned” credit to his sentence by testifying against Ruel Hamilton. Hamilton was sentenced to eight years in prison.

Chief U.S. District Judge Barbara Lynn cited “Caraway’s credibility while testifying” when she ordered his fifty-six month sentence only lowered by five months to a fifty-one month sentence.

Dwaine Caraway Released

Caraway had been serving time at Big Spring Federal Correction Institution. The federal lock up is about three hundred miles west of Dallas, near Midland, Texas.

Judge Lynn sentenced Caraway in 2019 after he pleaded guilty to taking $450,000 in bribes from promoters of a school bus stop-arm camera system in exchange for helping advocate for the system’s widespread adoption. The governmental entity Dallas County Schools was dissolved amid the scandal.

Caraway also solicited bribes from two other unrelated sources – first, Hamilton, and second, two undercover FBI agents posing as developers.

Caraway was never charged for those secondary bribary crimes, but he testified about them during Hamilton’s trial.

It is unclear what Caraway’s next move might be politically, if any. Former state representative Terri Hodge was found guilty of tax evasion after accepting bribes, but was still nominated to be the Electoral College representative for her Congressional District if Joe Biden had won Texas.

DPD Honored For Violent Crime Reduction Day After Mass Shooting

DPD Honored For Violent Crime Reduction

The Dallas Police Department has curious timing. A press release dropped Monday saying DPD Honored for Violent Crime Reduction just one day after a mass shooting involving ten victims and no suspect in downtown Dallas.

Garcia’s plans have been mostly kept under wraps from citizens and journalists. The award also comes after Dallas was hit by a data breach which affected nearly twenty thousand cases including assaults, rape, and other crimes against persons.

DPD Honored For Violent Crime Reduction – Numbers, Not Neighborhoods

Police Chief Eddie Garcia had a number of comments in the city press release.

DPD Honored For Violent Crime Reduction

Garcia said, “The Violent Crime Evidence-Based Reduction Plan is the result of work closely with criminologists, hearing from other departments within the City, and, most importantly, listening to our neighborhoods most impacted by violent crime. Our ultimate goal is the reduction of crime, with an increase in community trust. We will strive for both, as these concepts are not mutually exclusive. We will see further challenges in 2022 and our priority now is for our men and women to continue to partner with our community and strive to achieve an even safer Dallas.”

South Dallas Mass Shooting

South Dallas Mass Shooting

A South Dallas mass shooting resulted in ten victims early this morning at a party venue. Many more were injured trying to escape the violence that has police without answers.

Dallas police responded to The Space Dallas, in the 5200 block of Botham Jean Boulevard for reports of a shooting.

South Dallas Mass Shooting

At least four ambulances were seen taking injured victims to local hospitals including one fourteen year old victim.

Police reported an eighteen year old male was in critical condition. The conditions and injuries of the other victims were not announced.

South Dallas Mass Shooting Part Of Larger Issues

The mass shooting was one of several instances of gun violence around Dallas early Sunday. A 55-year-old man was fatally shot in Old East Dallas shortly before 4:00AM. It follows a student trainer being shot by a Kimball High School basketball player almost a week ago.

Police are short on clues and anyone with information about the incident should contact Dallas police Detective Alec Lopez at alec.lopez@dallascityhall.com or (214) 671-3658. Please refer to case No. 048526-2022.

South Dallas Mass Shooting

Crime Stoppers is offering a reward of up to $5,000 for information that leads to an arrest and indictment. To make an anonymous tip, call (214) 373-8477.

There are concerns about Dallas Police Department’s ability to capture the shooter – as there are concerns in the Christmas Day Garland shooting. Other citizens are worried that if an arrest does happen, he or she will simply be let off the hook by a judge more interested in re-election than the rule of law.

Richardson Police Sue Richardson Police

Richardson Police Sue Richardson Police

Two officers with the City of Richardson Police sue Richardson Police and the City of Richardson over allegations that they have been illegally requiring them to follow a ticket quota system.

Officers Kayla Walker and David Conklin filed the lawsuit against the City of Richardson. Walker was seen last year speaking before Richardson City Council stating an illegal ticket quota system was occuring for years.

They lawsuits also allege senior officers retaliated against them after they made public statements to the Richardson City Council and media outlets in 2021. They also allege retaliation after they filed criminal reports with outside law enforcement authorities.

Richardson Police Sue Richardson Police – The Case

The lawsuit claims an outside legal investigation confirmed the city was acting inappropriately, but also stated that the policy was not illegal “because it was part of a broader policy that included components that were not unlawful.”

Richardson Police Sue Richardson Police

A Dallas District Court judge is being asked to “declare the ticket quota policy in violation Section 772.002 of the Texas Transportation Code that prohibits all formal or informal ticket quotas, order the Richardson Police Department to stop the illegal policy, and compensate the officers for the violations of their First Amendment right to free speech.”

New Endorsements For Jane Hope Hamilton

On Wednesday, three new endorsements for Jane Hope Hamilton dropped all from former 2022 Democratic candidates who opposed her in the March primary.

New Endorsements For Jane Hope Hamilton

Hamilton’s run off campaign started with the endorsement of State Representative, Chairman Rafael Anchía. She has now added former State Representative Barbara Mallory Caraway, former Councilwoman Vonciel Jones Hill, and former Constable Roy Williams Jr.

The New Endorsements For Jane Hope Hamilton

Congressional District 30 needs a representative in Washington who will work to lower prescription drug costs so families won’t have to make the hard decusion between the high cost of medication and putting food on the table. We need someone who will work for safer neighborhoods by decreasing the escalating gun violence and crime plaguing our district. At the same time we need a representative who will work to ensure we keep our voting rights in this crumbling Democracy. That person is Jane Hope Hamilton.

Former State Representative Barbara Mallory Caraway

Jane Hope Hamilton has my support for Congress. Her history of advocating for our neighborhoods and speaking up for our underserved populations makes her the right choice. I look forward to working with her in Congress as we both continue to serve our communities.

Julio Guerrero Back On Streets Today

Julio Guerrero

An accused murder, Julio Guerrero, is back on the streets today after Dallas Judge Chika Anyiam lowered his bond from $2,000,000 to $500,000.

Julio Guerrero

The bond amount meant a $50,000 fee could be paid for him to be released. His lawyer, Tom Cox, who owns a bail bond company made payment on the bail himself. Cox has also contributed $5000 to the reelection of Chika Anyiam causing one local court watcher to ask about ex parte conversations.

The move by Judge Chika Anyiam angered both the victim’s family and the Dallas Police Association. Anyiam is the Dallas Democrats nominee for Dallas Criminal Court 7 after their March primary.

Julio Guerrero History

Guerrero has a long history of violence and is considered a repeat offender.

Guerrero had been arrested in June 2021 for murdering Francisco Villanueva for “bumping” into him at a nightclub per Dallas Police.

Three days after the nightclub murder he shot a three year old in the head during a road rage incident.

Kimball Basketball Had Warning Signs

Shot By Kimball High School Student

The Kimball basketball team’s Athletic Director and head coach had prior knowledge of previous issues with the player who brought a firearm on the school trip to San Antonio last week.

Two sources on school staff and two unrelated parents told Other Side Dallas that the school and staff were aware of the issues and that weapons on campus are a regular occurrence that gets ignored by senior administration and Dallas ISD Police.

Despite multiple issues with academics and attitude, the team kept the player on the team due to athletic ability and kept issues quiet in pursuit of state accolades.

Kimball HS Basketball

Dallas Schools have had multiple incidents and violations of Code of Conduct where the Dallas ISD did not follow their own policy on discipline. Recently an assault victim was made to stay in the same class as her assaulter who served no penalty at WT White.

One parent blames Trustee Maxie Johnson who has led efforts to eliminate discipline from the school system at large.

“They talk about a prison pipeline, but what about the pipeline to the hospital of assaults that don’t get attention,” one parent said.

Kimball Basketball

The Kimball basketball squad was allowed to stay in San Antonio and continue to compete despite the arrest of one of their team mates and the injury to a student who trainer who required surgery.
