Garland Police Statement

Detectives have discovered evidence identifying Abel Elias Acosta as the shooter responsible for killing three and wounding a fourth at a convenience store on December 26, 2021.

It is typically not the practice of the Garland Police Department to release juvenile information, but due to the nature of the offense and potential risk to the public, the court has authorized the release of his information.

Detectives obtained a Directive to Apprehend Abel Elias Acosta, age fourteen (14). Abel is facing the charge of Capital Murder for the shooting death of the three teenagers.

A Directive to Apprehend is defined by Texas Family Code, 52.015 as:
a) On the request of a law enforcement or probation officer, a juvenile court may issue a directive to apprehend a child if the court finds there is probable cause to take the child into custody under the provisions of this title.

Abel Elias Acosta is described as a light-skinned Hispanic male with dark hair, brown eyes, approximately 5’ 05” in height, and weighing around 125 pounds.

Sudden COVID19 Restaurant Closures

Sudden COVID19 Restaurant Closures

Mask and vaccine mandates are not the cause of the recent COVID19 restaurant closures – it is a lack of staffing.

Governor Greg Abbott has pushed to stop mask mandates and defied recommendations on school learning, but has tried to extend his reverse mandate to private businesses too. Abbott later became infected with COVID19 and was COVID19 positive while attending an event locally in McKinney.

Those businesses are now feeling the crunch of employees testing positive for COVID19 in a wave of Omicron variant infections which have propelled numbers past last year’s highs.

Dallas Independent School District and other local ISDs are defying the Governor leading to protests against local schools by QAnon “truth warriors.”

Ongoing COVID19 Restaurant Closures

Local restaurant favorites like Amor Y Queso in Deep Ellum and Uchi Dallas have temporarily closed their doors after the COVID19 outbreak.

While local police are hunting for the person responsible for a triple homicide in Garland, Ms. Benjamin is aking Dallas Police to investigate what many in the now deleted or removed thread to believe an animal on animal attack.

Dallas County Republican Party officials did not respond to an email requesting comment, but another Republican who sent Other Side Dallas the screenshots said, “the wannabe victimhood of someone who lives in a million dollar home is appalling.”

She continued, “Diane is living in fantasy land. She lives paranoid Joe Biden is going to order an illegal alien to force her to take a vaccination which she will be taxed more for receiving.”

Locally, QAnon has taken over more grassroots leadership positions in the Dallas area despite the clear correlation to losing general election votes because of their actions.

Their actions led to local realtor Jenna Ryan going to Washington for the January 6th insurrection and famously claiming she would not go to jail because she is white before ultimately being sentenced to jail.

It has also led to multiple protests at Dealey Montessori by local activists with no connection to the school other than anger at the mask mandate that exists district wide.

Ms. Benjamin signs her posts GOP Precinct Chair 2021. She is the mother of D11 city council candidate Barry Wernick who lost earlier this year to Jaynie Schultz.

Garland Shooting Day After Christmas

Garland Shooting

A Texaco was the site of a Garland shooting yesterday where four were shot and three killed by what appears to be a teenage gunman.

Garland Shooting

Garland police released a video of the teen opening fire inside the Texaco station on Walnut Lane in Garland Sunday evening.

Garland Shooting Details

Police said the teenage male got out of the passenger side of a pickup truck and walked up to the front door. Police say he fired at least twenty times into the store before returning to the truck and leaving.

The victims were teenagers between fourteen and seventeen years of age.

Police said two of the victims came to the store together. The Dallas County Medical Examiner identified them as 15-year-old Ivan Noyola and 17-year-old Rafael Garcia.

Chief Bryan said investigators still trying to determine if this was a targeted attack.

“It’s difficult for me, for my officers and for my community because we want to know why we don’t have an answer to why we’re trying to comprehend this, and we don’t yet comprehend this. But we have a job to do,” he told members of the media.

The youngest victim was fourteen year old Xavier Gonzales who was ordering tacos for his family when the shooting happened.

The shooting comes just over a week after a nationwide school shooting “challenge” that went viral on Tik Tok.

Dallas ISD Wants To Educate In Utero

Educate In Utero

Dallas Independent School District is moving forward with a program to expand pre-kindergarten education from the prenatal period through to toddlers, i.e. educate in utero to eighteen.

Educate In Utero

The program was previously announced in April 2021, but is gaining traction with recent reports in Dallas Morning News and Fox4 News.

Educate In Utero, But Not After Born?

The initiative, called Start Strong Dallas, is in its early stages.

The school district said most of a child’s brain develops before they turn five years old and children have learning gaps before they arrive to Dallas public school programming in the areas of language and social skills.

Educate In Utero

Dallas ISD also hopes to develop educational programming for parents, but Dallas ISD’s record on education is poor at best.

In 2020, Dallas ISD Trustees noted students were failing throughout the district in basic areas such as reading and math. At the time a number of suggestions were made to close the gap including extending the school year – which a handful of campuses did – but there was no focus on innovative education and DISD remained with a top down central market style educational system.

Additionally, while there have been numerous examples of financial mismanagement, many Dallas ISD parents and taxpayers are concerned by the district’s handling of basic school management functions.

After Thanksgiving 2021, Dallas ISD Transportation did not have buses running correctly reminding parents of the problems with Dallas County Schools.

Last year, a student enrolled in a dual credit program had teachers who would not communicate with him. More recently there have been examples of poor management where an elementary student had a firearm at school and in another example a student orgy took place in a middle school bathroom.

Merry Texas Christmas 2021

Other Side Dallas wishes all its readers, members of Dallas City Council, and businesses a very Merry Texas Christmas 2021.

Christmas 2021

We wanted to share the quote below from one of our favorite holiday stories in hopes that we all find these days to be filled with charity, mercy, and general good acts of kindness. These are the same traits that brought America together in difficult times past and together we accomplish so much more than apart.

We hope you will remember the many front line responders (police, fire, EMS) and hospital workers who work today to bring you safety while you spend time during this pandemic, COVID19.

Adam Swartz Lawsuit

Politricks

Are Dallas County Republicans up to their politricks again?

On Monday, December 13, 2021 Adam Swartz filed for Dallas Justice of the Peace Precinct 3 Place 1, a seat held currently by Al Cercone. At the end of the night there were no primary opponents and the Texas Secretary of State listed no Republican opponents.

Politricks

As of today, a Republican is in the race forcing the question did the GOP file late?

GOP Politricks Not New

In 2018 Republicans filed suit to keep Democrats of the ballot in the Justice of Peace races – elections that each GOP judge won by roughly 1400 votes out of 200,000 cast.

Additionally, Precinct 2 Justice of Peace Bill Metzger removed a campaign sign for Jim Phaup, then the mayor of Sunnyvale who was a Republican primary candidate for Texas House District 113.

A camera placed near the sign by Phaup’s campaign after a previous sign was removed recorded a man in a hoodie cutting the zip ties holding the sign to two metal stakes, then stomping on the stakes.

Metzger was admonished by the State Commission on Judicial Conduct in 2020 after losing re-election. The commission stated that his testimony “was not credible,” and that Metzger’s actions cast “public discredit on the judiciary.”

In August there were multiple reports, the GOP might file independent candidates in races to disrupt races.

In the Precinct 3 Place 2 race, Chris Suprun is running against Steve Seider. Both Suprun and Swartz have written or moderated for Other Side Dallas or the Facebook group.

Trump Gets COVID19 Vaccine Booster

Trump Gets COVID19 Vaccine Booster

On Sunday at the American Airlines Center, a surprising admission from the former President. President Donald Trump gets COVID19 vaccine booster per his conversation with Bill O’Reilly which surprised many in the crowd leading to a small crowd booing his admission.

Many Republicans have dismissed official healthcare guidance seeking treatments such as hydroxychloriquine or ivermectin despite clear evidence they do not play a positive role in slowing infection rates or hospital admissions for coronavirus.

In the meantime, Omicron rates are skyrocketing across Europe and parts of the United States and health officials are worried again about winter hospital bed availability.

Trump Gets COVID19 Vaccine Booster

It isn’t clear what prompted Trump to get the vaccine booster, but recently Southwest Airlines Chief Executive Officer Gary Kelly was diagnosed with COVID19 just days after telling Congress he doesn’t think masks provide any health benefit in contradiction to Centers for Disease Control guidance.

Last summer, Dallas has been described as a COVID19 “hot zone” due to high infection numbers.

Gary Kelly Has COVID19

It is unclear how many cases are happening within Southwest Airlines right now, but more locally Dealey Montessori cases shot up immediately when unmasked students were allowed it the classroom in violation of Dallas ISD’s mask mandate.

Gary Kelly Has COVID19, But Losing Control At Airline?

Weeks ago Southwest Airlines had to cancel 2000 flights in a weekend stranding tens of thousands of passengers across the United States. At the time they blames weather and technology, but insiders say it was a mass Blue Day – where employees call out sick from work. American Airlines had similar issues.

Southwest also said it would follow Goveror Greg Abbott’s mask mandate prohibitions instead of federal government rules.
