One of the first statements came from District 4.

Mayor Pro Tem Carolyn King Arnold wrote a heartfelt statement.

“I was truly saddened today to wake up to the news that Congresswoman Johnson had passed.”

City Council Member Paula Blackmon said, “Dallas lost a trailblazer today with the passing of Congresswoman Eddie Bernice Johnson.”

JFK Assassinated Sixty Years Ago – Any New Lessons?

The assassination of Kennedy began what was a tumultuous decade of race riots amidst calls for new civil rights law.

Police in many southern cities cracked down on protestors ignoring calls for civil rights protections.

Since then the police appear to better protect right wing protestors rights over the civil rights of others.

Kennedy’s last speech was planned to speak to the American middle, not the “fanatics.” He was specific in saying duty was not to party, but country.

American Airlines Karen Identified

American Airlines Karen identified as 38-year-old Dallas resident Tiffany Gomas who went viral after losing it over air pods.

In July, a woman went viral as she departed an American Airlines flight screaming about someone who was “not real.”

The encounter blew up on social media – the video is below – and social media users across the country scrambled to identify the ‘Karen’.

Police reports indicate that Gomas was not willing to leave the flight.

A complaint states, “The female then started claiming the aircraft was not safe and did not want the aircraft to leave due to her believing it would not make it to its destination.”

“Due to the statements the flight attendants felt the aircraft needed to be rescreened.”

Gomas left the area at the direction of staff and law enforcement. She then tried to get back to the boarding area multiple times.

Police tracked her down where she was waiting for an Uber.

She received a criminal trespass notice. However, Gomas would not sign it. Police declined to detain her.

Gomas reportedly lives in a $2M Dallas area home and works for Elevate Brand Marketing. Other Side Dallas has reached out to Elevate for their comment.

Cumulus Sues Hang Zone

Cumulus Sues Hang Zone with a lawsuit against former 1310 The Ticket hosts Dan McDowell and Jake Kemp.

The lawsuit comes over their podcast endeavor since leaving 1310 The Ticket last month. The new podcast is called The Dumb Zone.

McDowell and Kemp departed the station after failing to come to a new contract agreement.

Cumulus Sues Hang Zone

Cumulus Sues Hang Zone – The Legal Side

According to a memo from Cumulus Dallas Market Manager Dan Bennett, the two parties saw talks break down “over competing digital media interests Dan and Jake wished to pursue outside of a Cumulus Media partnership”.

After leaving 1310 The Ticket, McDowell and Kemp started a Patreon podcast entitled The Dumb Zone. This appears to be a side eye play on their former Ticket program The Hang Zone.

In response, 1310 The Ticket sent the pair a cease-and-desist letter.

On Friday, Cumulus filed a lawsuit in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Texas against Kemp and McDowell alleging breach of contract.

In the complaint, the company argues that McDowell and Kemp created the new program while still employed by The Ticket.

This was in violation of their non-compete agreements per the lawsuit.

The suit goes on to say the duo began “recording an identical show…which follows the same program format as The Hang Zone.”

They also report the podcast is focused on a male audience and on Dallas-area sports.

Legal documents also show the company believes Kemp and McDowell rebranded social media accounts owned by 1310 The Ticket.

The company has asked for a temporary injunction against the pair and The Dumb Zone.

It believes that “without a temporary restraining order and a preliminary injunction, we will continue to suffer substantial irreparable harm to its business as a result of (McDowell and Kemp’s) actions”.

According to documentation in the case, McDowell — who joined The Ticket in 1999 — had a clause in his contract that prohibited him from “directly or indirectly” engaging “in any activities the same or essentially the same” as his radio work for six months after his contract ended. A clause also appears to show that Cumulus reserved the right to enact “immediate injunctive relief” should the clause be broken.

Cumulus previously charged a local nonprofit for ads they admit they did not air. After Other Side Dallas reporting, Cumulus did refund the payments.

Poor Jenna Ryan

Poor Jenna Ryan

Poor Jenna Ryan is back at it – now complaining the Paypal shut down her legal defense fund account.

In a rant on X she describes her personal financial information being shred with the media.

Other Side Dallas reached out to CBS, NBC, The New York Times, and The Washington Post. None could comment officially, but sources say no personal financial information was shared with the media.

Poor Jenna Ryan

Ryan has continued her work though and claims of innocence.

It was disclosed that Ryan closed her real estate business and later reopened it using a new name for herself after the insurrection.

Her real-estate website, First Place Real Estate, shows Ryan identifying herself as “Jennifer Rodgers.” Ryan has since changed her name back to Jenna Ryan.

It is unclear why the name change was required if she had nothing to be ashamed for in supporting what is described as an insurrection.

Poor Jenna Ryan

Jenna Ryan came to be known as the Dallas area realtor who participated in the January 6th riots. She claimed she would not go to jail because she was white and blonde.

Ryan made headlines when she bragged about taking a private jet to the insurrection and called it “one of the best days of my life.”

She did indeed serve jail time and was convicted for her participation that day.

Harlan Crow Headlines

Harlan Crow Headlines

Harlan Crow headlines return to national papers this week as the local developer refuses to cooperate with Senate investigators.

Investigators from the US Senate Finance Committee are trying to determine if Crow used his superyacht as a tax deduction vehicle. The yacht’s registration says it is part of a for profit entity.

Harlan Crow Headlines

The wealthy often lower their taxes buying and operating their jets and yachts.

Crow follows the formula through a company that purported to charter the yacht. Per Pro Publica, the way Crow uses the yacht raises questions about his compliance with the tax code.

Pro Publica reports that Crow generally paid an average income tax rate of 15% per IRS data in their possession.

Crow lawyers argue that the US Senate investigation violates the separation of powers between Congress and the courts.

Harlan Crow Headlines Continue Bad National Press

Earlier this year it ProPublica reports Crow had a close relationship with Supreme Court justice, Clarence Thomas. A relationship fed with lavish gifts.

Specifically, it appears these trips on the Crow superyacht are gifts that would total in the thousands of dollars. These gifts would require a gift tax form.

These gifts could result in higher taxes for Crow including penalties, but the larger question looms. What did he gain by these tax advantageous gifts.

Earlier reports also show Crow holds a second citizenship. This is not illegal, but is referenced as a cash for citizenship scheme.

The city states those tech issues are unrelated to the ransomware attacks

Brad Namdar Dismissed

Brad Namdar Dismissed

Brad Namdar dismissed is more than a headline. It may be an epitaph on a once promising political career for the young GOP operative.

Dallas court documents show that Namdar’s suit against the Dallas Morning News is being dismissed. It also appears he will be held responsible for court and defendant fees.

Brad Namdar Dismissed

Namdar filed suit earlier this year against the Dallas Morning News and Lauren McGaughey over a story published last year. The story said Namdar had solicited sex from an escort and in at least once case not paid her.

Other Side Dallas followed this reporting and that of Current Revolt.

The accusation against Namdar led to him being suspended by the Texas Secretary of State‘s Texas Businesses Against Trafficking Program.

The combined bad news led to the Dallas Morning News to pull out of its endorsement of Namdar. It should be noted that in late 2021, Other Side Dallas referred to Namdar as the “prohibitive favorite” in the race.

Namdar would go on 660 KSKY to attempt damage control, but many said he hurt his campaign by doing the interview.

Brad Namdar Dismissed

Brad Namdar Dismissed

The original suit can be seen below.

One question which is not clear is why Namdar filed suit.

Numerous local political watchers thought Brad had made a mistake, but he was being wise by biding his time.

The argument was if he stayed out of the light the stories would fade and he could run for office again.

One local conservative said privately ‘Brad Namdar dismissed himself from any future consideration.’

The source went on, “Brad can’t run again. He ruined his and Pia’s reputation while seeking sex from escorts he didnt even pay.”

Namdar’s attorney Ryan McClendon Moore stated Namdar was being shunned by local political operatives and organizations.

Brad’s wife Pia Namdar is the face of the nonprofit Adelante Texas. Pia Namdar has been publicly silent on the accusations against her husband.

Namdar has been working as General Manager of the Denton Diablos. Per the order from the court Namdar can not refile his suit and is responsible for legal fees owed to the Dallas Morning News.
