Desoto ISD Blue Day?

Desoto ISD Blue Day

Desoto ISD Blue Day may be in store for students today as campus administrators catch wind of possible sick out today.

It is possible that up to a dozen teachers may participate in tomorrow’s blue day.

Desoto ISD Blue Day

A blue day is when a group of workers jointly call out sick to work.

Staff and teachers have noted in social media posts that Desoto ISD is not assisting with school discipline issues.

Desoto ISD Blue Day More Bad News For District?

In 2020 there was talk of a Texas Education Agency takeover due to financial mismanagement.

A special conservator was appointed for the Desoto TEA takeover, but this appears to be more bad news for the district.

It does not appear that the schools can be managed locally.

Other Side Dallas will provide Dallas local breaking news and other local business news updates as able.

State Fair Spelling

State Fair spelling error is causing attendees to realize state education rankings are accurate and we need help.

For those following at home, the sign welcoming visitors is missing an obvious bit of punctuation and a letter.

State Fair Spelling

It is not clear if State Fair officials will remove the offending billboard that Texas ranks #38 against other states in education.

In local education news, Dallas Independent School District is suing the Texas Education Agency over state standards.

Dallas ISD believes state standards are too rigorous and nearly ten percent of campuses would fail.

Dallas ISD has 233 campuses and 145,000 students. On the last state report card roughly ten percent of these received a D or F grade from the state.

In an interview with NBCDFW, Superintendant Stephanie Elizalde said, “I would never have any evaluation of any member of my team based on previous evaluation criteria, and at the end of the period of time that I’m going to evaluate them say I’ve changed my mind I’m going to evaluate you on something else.”

However, Dallas ISD has done this – repeatedly.

Most recently, a principal was suddenly removed from a successful Dallas ISD school with no clear reason or cause.

Additionally, since at least 2020, Dallas ISD students have been shown to be failing at basic math and reading.

Johnson Sides With ERCOT

Johnson sides with ERCOT over local consumer needs in Wednesday email urging consumers to adjust their thermostats.

In an email to supporters, Johnson noted a recent tweet from ERCOT asking consumers to raise their household temperatures. He then says they are right before asking for contributions to his senate re-election campaign.

Johnson Sides With ERCOT

Nathan Johnson was first elected in 2018 and since then has tacked further and further left. In 2022, there were rumors of a centrist challenge.

Now it appears Johnson is carrying water for the same energy organization that left Dallas out in the cold in 2021.

Johnson Sides With ERCOT Over Consumers

Texas is growing at a rapid rate, but rather than increase supply, Johnson readily admits his focus is on taking away power.

ERCOT was hit after Winter Storm Uri in 2021, but Johnson was unable to move legislation forward to increase supply.

American Airlines Karen Identified

American Airlines Karen identified as 38-year-old Dallas resident Tiffany Gomas who went viral after losing it over air pods.

In July, a woman went viral as she departed an American Airlines flight screaming about someone who was “not real.”

The encounter blew up on social media – the video is below – and social media users across the country scrambled to identify the ‘Karen’.

Police reports indicate that Gomas was not willing to leave the flight.

A complaint states, “The female then started claiming the aircraft was not safe and did not want the aircraft to leave due to her believing it would not make it to its destination.”

“Due to the statements the flight attendants felt the aircraft needed to be rescreened.”

Gomas left the area at the direction of staff and law enforcement. She then tried to get back to the boarding area multiple times.

Police tracked her down where she was waiting for an Uber.

She received a criminal trespass notice. However, Gomas would not sign it. Police declined to detain her.

Gomas reportedly lives in a $2M Dallas area home and works for Elevate Brand Marketing. Other Side Dallas has reached out to Elevate for their comment.

Chaos At AAC

Chaos at AAC – the American Airlines Center – was another example of uncontrolled violence in Dallas. City council continues unwilling to respond to violence downtown and in Dallas neighborhoods.

The American Airlines Center hosted the Jake Paul vs. Nate Diaz boxing match. There are numerous videos showed bigger fights outside the ring.

It is unclear the number of security and police on scene. Video is clear it was not enough for the pay per view event titled “Ready 4 war.”

Logan Paul also involved himself in an incident with a fan during the match.

It was a full day for the older Paul brother. He made the flight from Detroit to Dallas after being in WWE’s SummerSlam.

Chaos At AAC – Not In Ring

The YouTuber-turned-prizefighter Jake Paul defeated Nate Diaz via a unanimous decision (97-92, 98-91, 98-91) Saturday night.

The event at American Airlines Center was sold-out.

Paul hurt Diaz in the first round and some indicated they thought he “would cruise or finish early.” Diaz kept the contest close and made it a dogfight throughout.

Dallas has been hundreds of officers short since 2020. It was then that the city council led by Adam Bazaldua moved to remove police funding.
