Dallas ISD Survey

Dallas ISD parents are being asked for their opinion about how they want their children to return to school for the 2020-2021 school year per a post on the Townview Magnet Foundation website.

Parents can let Dallas school administration know what you think by filling out a survey for each of their children. You will find a video explaining the latest plans the district is considering and links to the survey for each school by visiting www.dallasisd.org/parentsurvey2020.

  1. I just don’t think anyone who is sitting at the round table of decisions had even had conversations with teachers or anyone who teaches. In Texas we haven’t seen a decline in COVID-19 cases at any point. They are talking about putting plexiglass in between every student. So… Between each class a teacher would have to sanitize quickly all the used desk and plexiglass before the next class arrives. Which is usually a three minute transition. And just like what has gone on in prior years up until now not every year each school is not even funded equally under normal circumstances. I don’t trust the standards of funding with be balanced equally for this pandemic. Can you imagine being a teacher at Skyline going back into 2020-21 a school of about 4,000 students. My principal won’t even report back to our school because she is a diabetic but you have the expectation of everyone else to go back? There clearly was already no equity in DISD learning now there will be no equity in securing everyone’s health either.

Then we’re talking about giving parent options between online learning and on campus but teachers still have to report to work. But unlike other states Texas cases of COVID-19 are increasing daily. As we had about 3,997 cases & 58 deaths statewide as of April 1 and now as of today June 23 we have 120,370 & 2,220 deaths Reported statewide by the Texas Department of health and human services. Our high schools aren’t even equipped to be mobile. You can’t move a ceramics studio, music classes, paint studios, graphics classes or shop classes. High schools are way more complicating than elementary. We don’t need your to put money into fault PPE how about getting us all a hazmat suit.

In addition. How does that even work? If I go down and get sick to the that extent from being at work. Who’s paying the bills in my absence? This is not what teachers signed up for. How is our contract going to be amended. There shouldn’t even be a discussion about waivers either. The Board of Education and TEA should be held accountable for all sickness of students and teachers that May incur.

    1. In addition If I get sick My whole family gets quarantined. I’m a single parent of 4 children. Then if I die TEA and the Board of Education also need to come up with funding to support my children for the rest of my children’s lives. I died honorably in the line of duty.
