Stolen Plane Leads To Pilot Death

A stolen plane leads to pilot death by what investigators believe was a suicide by Logan Timothy James of North Carolina.

The pilot is dead after a plane was stolen in Addison and crashed along the Texas-Oklahoma border.

A single-engine Cessna 1725 was taken from the ATP Flight School at Addison Airport.

Air Traffic Control radio transmissions indicate the pilot says he was changing his flight plan.

Initially he was doing touch and go landing practice, but he altered plans and left towards the east.

The Texas Department of Public Safety identified the pilot Thursday as Logan Timothy James of Stokesdale, North Carolina. He was 23 at the time and was the only person on board at the time of the crash.

One course indicates James may have left a suicide note at an apartment here in Dallas. This has not been confirmed.

The Texas DPS said the National Transportation Safety Board is now leading the investigation into the crash and is being assisted by the Federal Aviation Administration.
