Dealey Protest

The word is no word on the Dealey Protest planned for Thursday. Two parents notified Other Side Dallas they had received no communication from the school about safety plans to protect their children on Thursday, October 14.

Per those parents at least half a dozen parents were planning on keeping their children home or picking them up early to avoid the confrontation.

Dealey Protest Background

It is unclear what Dallas ISD plans are for the school that day as a call to DISD headquarters yielded surprise when they were asked about discipline standards and safety plans on Tuesday, October 12.

In our previous post on this topic we noted that this is called a Child Abuse protest, but there has been no credible evidence that any child abuse is happening at Dealey. There are no police records or other indications of abuse – just an allegation of abuse because students are required to wear masks.

The same family organizing the protest is reported to be one of two families who was part of classroom disruptions earlier in the year.

In August, Superintendent Hinojosa over ruled Governor Abbott’s executive order banning mask mandates. A handful of families across the district have argued against the mask mandate and per sources Dealey Montessori has accomodated these students by allowing them to participate in class in the library.

The students in question still go to lunch in the lunchroom and attend outdoor physical education class with their peers.

Given these accomodations, many parents are asking why a Dealey protest at all.

  1. We (parents) did receive communication from our principal on the alleged events (“protest”) planned for tomorrow.

Still very confused why this select group of “whomevers” are deciding to do this at our school, on property. This issue (being titled as “child abuse” ) is all because this one family doesn’t want / believe her 2 kids should have to wear masks for them to be allowed in the classrooms with the other kids (600+) that are following the districts rules! She knew this … she was offered alternatives. She declined. Dealey has accommodated best they can. But apparently this is “child abuse”! !So all parents, teachers, staff of TX schools who are following the districts mandates are child abusers?! It’s so absurd. Her issue is with the district. Instead she’s instilling fear into our children and disrupting the classrooms and ability for our children to learn in a safe and calm environment. It is such a waste of our schools resources and creating turmoil for what is a very tight community of amazing kids, parents and staff. She needs to take her kids and educate them in an environment that fits her beliefs or stop this nonsense and comply with the districts policies.

Not sure where/what your source is for a “counter protest”. We do not plan (to my knowledge) to engage with these shenanigans/nonsense. There is no truth or warrant to these claims. She’s seeking attention, we will just have to work to make our kids feel safe and not threatened. And again, take away from their learning from yet another, “Lauren Davis disruption”! It’s getting old!

  2. I agree mrs.gomez. This is absurd. I don’t think it is fair to put other students at risk, even if it’s not their beliefs. Like you said they have been given other options. I have been to where they are “suffocating” and they are not included in a plastic box., instead they are in a divider that only goes around three sides and it isn’t covered at the top. This is very important to understanding that the teachers and faculty are trying their best.
